Why You Should Be Watching What’s Happening in Burgas

This April, Burgas kicked off a genuine shift in how the city gets its kids to school — and it’s quickly becoming a textbook example of good practice in school mobility, through the Bike2School and Street for Kids initiatives.

Children and adults are turning their everyday trips into kilometers that count — and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of it.

Bulgarian National Television (BNT) recently ran a segment that says it all: an entire city, from the youngest kids to grown adults, is leaving the car at home, getting on a bike, and racking up the distance together. We hope Sofia Municipality, backed by the Ministry of Education and Science, will soon follow suit.

At WeRide.today, this is exactly what we’re building toward. Our app tracks every kilometer you ride, turns individual movement into a shared goal, and makes active mobility something people actually want to do — not an obligation, but a fun challenge worth joining.

We’re proud to partner with the Burgas Cycling Community, the Municipality of Burgas, and the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation on school and urban active mobility in Burgas.

Every time we choose a bike or our own two feet over the car, the whole city wins: cleaner air, safer streets, and healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Every kilometer is a small choice. Together, they move the city forward.

A huge thank-you to everyone in Burgas already on the road — this win belongs to you.
